Frequently Asked Question
I am not able to receive shared Google documents from outside Avon Public Schools.
Last Updated 19 hours ago
To protect our network against a recent surge in credential-harvesting phishing attacks originating from malicious inbound Google Doc sharing requests, we are implementing a new security restriction within our Avon Public Schools Google Workspace. Effective immediately, Google Workspace will block all inbound document sharing from external, unapproved domains.
If you need to access a document shared by an outside organization, you can request that their domain be reviewed and whitelisted:
- Submit an IT Work Order requesting an addition to the Allowed Domain List.
- Include the specific domain name of the outside organization (e.g., @partnerorganization.org).
- Briefly state the educational or administrative need for the access.
- Include a link to the requested document.
Please note: Generic consumer domains such as @gmail.com addresses will not be permitted on the allowed list under any circumstances.
We strongly recommend that teachers review their teaching materials, curriculum links, and shared resources ahead of upcoming student assignments. Checking these links in advance will ensure you can submit any necessary whitelist requests early and give the IT team enough time to process them before students need access.
Thank you for your cooperation and vigilance in keeping our digital systems secure, and I apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.
